In 2014, World's population has gone above 7 billion people and we, the human, thinking that overpopulation can be a positive thing. Overpopulation does somehow make some benefit to this world. People said that, overpopulation creates more urbanization, which brought a great change in the growth of the economy. Famous American author "Mark Twain", he quotes "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first". As the world's population starts rising, and these people will follow the animal traits: To Survive. Human is a selfish and greedy animal, we demand more than what we need, we tried to fight for our benefit against another human beings, but all we did is just to survive. This Worlds now is facing several serious problems because of overpopulation, and if we don't make some actions, the world will eventually drain out by us.
- The scientific study funded by NASA has found that civilization could be facing collapse within the next few decades.
- One of the CNN report, title read "This planet comes with limits", "the population will increase by 9.6 billion by 2050, that's two more Chinas"
- Titled read "Overpopulation could be people, planet problem", it mentioned "India on the path to become the most populous country.","Overpopulation will tax water supplies worldwide". "Largest population growths occurring in developing nations."
I believe that overpopulation is definitely the greatest and unsolved problem in the world. Although it is already a problem, it also leads to other problems such as starvation, global warming, poverty, war and even more.
ReplyDeleteI believe that overpopulation might be a great problem, but it's very likely not the greatest. You've supported your claim with the ideas of medical improvement, immigration, child mortality, and lack of resources. However, both medical improvement and immigration are just the causes of overpopulation, whereas child mortality should be the cause of poverty, not overpopulation; if the the family was wealthy, they would have money to support their children, or they wouldn't give birth to a large number of children after all. The depletion of resources is indeed an important effect of overpopulation, but it had not become a huge problem yet. In my opinion, most people can't get resources because they are poor, not because there is a lack of the resources. If you want to support your claim, I think it is better to list the resources that are decreasing to the point that the their price needs to be increased.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant 'effects of poverty' for the third sentence.
